Based on my
pervious experiences with working with different groups to achieve common goal,
the high performing teams are harder to leave because high performing teams
share common vision, goals and stand strong together towards challenges to achieve
the desire goal. Its also hard to loose people that you established clear get
attached to and share common vision. When there is a clear norm, Team
relationships will be better and they respect and trust each other and the team
stays focused on the vision. Team members become more flexible and
interdependent on each other and communication improves. I mentioned in the
discussion post about the great teamwork I experienced when I was the maid of
honor of my friend. Planning her bridal shower with the bridesmaids is a
great example of teamwork. We all worked towards one goal and to make the bride
happy and making sure everything goes smooth. As a maid of honor, I wanted to
make sure establishing a good relationship with the bridesmaids to make it easy
to communicate and work together. Dr. Randi Wolfe, in media segment talks about
the importance of having “mutual trust and respect.”
Trust enables the team to engage in open debate and decision making that leads
to a commitment of action on the part of individual members of the tea
Reading the article, " The five stages of team development: A case study" the
author explains Adjourning provides the team the opportunity to say good-bye to
each other and wish each other luck as they pursue their next endeavor. It is
likely that any group that reached Stage 4:
Performing will
keep in touch with each other as they have become a very close knit group and
there will be sadness at separating and moving on to other projects
independently" (Abudi,G. (2010)
Time is
getting close for me and my colleagues to graduate with our Master's degree, I
feel when that time arrives, I will feel a sense of sadness because I have
gotten use to working with my colleagues as a team and I looked to them as a
sense of support by them responding to me and others by using our group
discussions (posting on the blackboard). After graduating, this will basically
be the time to adjourn and I know this will also be a time of sadness because
me and my colleagues will go our different ways and on our own journeys.
Hi Naire
ReplyDeleteI already commented on you discussion post about the awesome team work you had while being a bridesmaid. So I will comment on your last paragraph about finishing up our masters degree. I was very hesitant about starting this journey a year ago. I kept telling myself, I'm way too old to be going back to college. I'm sure all of these people will be much younger then me. I was delightfully surprised to see that we are all over the age range. I feel that due to our age range, we are able to contribute much more to each other. The experience that we have is easily shareable and we are able to see how things have changed in the field over the years!

Hi Naire
ReplyDeleteIt was really nice learning with you throughout this course and throughout our masters program. I'm not sure what your specialization is, but I wish you the best of luck with the rest of your studies if we do not come across each other again!
